The runways at this new terminal are capable of handling international wide-body jets from around the world. Just over an hour south of the El Catey airport is the capital city of Santo Domingo. This historic city offers great shopping and a cosmopolitan lifestyle when appropriate. The international airport also offers service to many parts of the world.
To round out the many lifestyles of the Dominican Republic are the natural wonders of the Samana Peninsula. Also on the north coast is the Playa Grande Club and Reserve, which offers world class golf, and Cabarete which is often called the kiteboarding capital of the world. But, you can also stay local. Las Terrenas also offers great kiteboarding, windsurfing, surfing, scuba-diving, and just plain old walking on the beach and looking for seashells.
